Sault Swimmer heads to Southern Illinois University

Ali Robertson heads to Southern Illinois University this September to continue her swimming career and study criminal justice.

Southern Illinois University Gains a Sault Swimmer for 2021/2022

Until the bridge closed a year ago, Ali Robertson would faithfully cross it twice a day to train with Sault Surge Aquatic Team. During the Sault Area High School swim season, she would train regularly with both teams, balancing a taxing training load.

Robertson has made Sault Surge and the Blue Devils very proud and will undoubtedly continue to do so with the Division I Salukis come September. Though COVID-19 prevented her from visiting the school in person prior to signing with them, multiple conversations with the SIU coaches convinced her their program and school would be a great fit.

“I’m excited to announce my commitment to Southern Illinois University to continue my swimming career and study criminal justice! Thank you to my friends, family and coaches!” –  Ali Robertson

Some of Ali’s achievements to date include:

  • three-time winner of the UP Swimmer of the Year;
  • UP record holder in 100 breaststroke, 100 butterfly and 200 IM;
  • Canadian National Championships and Olympic Trials.

Congratulations Ali from the SaultOnline team!
