As everyone is well aware, Bay Street went through a multi-million dollar change just last year.
A city official has confirmed to SaultOnline that after just under a year, they are considering changing it again.
“Bay Street going one way, seems to not have fixed some of the issues we were hoping,” said the official. “We hope that changing it to two directions and four lanes will help people get around the Soo much better.”
The individual who has asked to remain anonymous because they are not authorized to speak to media stated.
He says they have heard complaints about how we seem to be addicted to one-way streets and have become the one-way capital of Northern Ontario. The source says there will be no stoplights, but rather roundabouts at Dennis, Elgin and East Streets with all-way stops at the other intersections.
The changes have to be approved by council, but if done, reconstruction will start this summer.
