Fire near the downtown (15 photos )

At approximately 1 p.m., Sault Fire Services was dispatched to a fire in the downtown area.

All available trucks and the Platoon Chief arrived to a fire in the 300 block of North street, near the corner of North and London.

Upon arrival, they found heavy yellow smoke coming from the attic of what appeared to be an abandoned home.

There was apparently a double roof, making access to the fire a little more difficult. Once  access to the fire was gained, it was knocked down quickly.

Firefighters remain on scene, putting out hotspots.

Cause and damage estimates are currently unknown.
