With the help of many community minded supporters, the Sault Cycling Club has raised just over $40,000 for the Finn Hill Mountain Bike Trail Project in just over a month!
What does this mean for the project?
This means we’ve secured our spot on the building schedule for this year with professional trail builders, Sentiers Boreals. A tentative construction start date will be at the end of August / early September 2021.
We’re not quite there yet though… we’ve still got a long way to go to get to our goal of $150,000 and only a few months left to get there. We’re reaching out to the community to ask for their support and to help spread the word and to donate if they are able. Every dollar counts in this community fundraising project.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to all of the generous supporters. It’s heartwarming to see those who are coming up with their own initiatives to help with the project. Hats off to Vélorution with their “Bike Nerd” T-shirts, Feeding Your Soul Café with their bicycle cookies and to the anonymous donor for creating the bike chain key chains. To those who are selling our custom stamped coasters (Algoma Bicycle, Feeding Your Soul Café, Outspoken Brewing and Velorution) and to those who have sponsored a meter of trail by purchasing one, thank you for your support!
We’d like to give special recognition to our major sponsors who have helped us secure our spot for trail building this year.

This project is demonstrating that there is strong community support for cycling infrastructure in our community. The Sault Cycling Club’s long-term vision remains to become a Trail Town with a city wide interconnecting trail system. The Finn Hill Mountain Bike Trail is just the start to show our city what we can have in every neighborhood.
A resolution was passed by City Council on February 22, 2021 allowing the Finn Hill Mountain Bike Trail Project to move forward. In collaboration with the City of Sault Ste Marie, the Sault Cycling Club will be spearheading the construction of a professionally built 3 km Mountain Bike Flow Trail this summer. The trail which will be suitable for all skill levels including para trikes will start at Finn Hill and finish near Northern Avenue along the west side of the Hub Trail. The cost to build the trail will be entirely from fundraising and we expect strong community support for this demonstration project.
