With many of us working remotely as a result of the pandemic and continued shutdown, finding a healthy work life balance has come as a challenge for some. For one local woman it has presented an opportunity to explore and experience dreams that would have otherwise been impossible.

Melody Moffatt, a Multimedia Designer at Community First, a Division of YNCU, by day and Composer/Pianist by night, has been able to find a work life balance that has allowed her to pursue her dreams outside of work.

“Writing my own music has been a dream since I was very young. I am very thankful for the balance that Community First, a Division of YNCU, has offered me to support my musical aspirations,” says Moffatt, a Sault Ste. Marie native.

Moffatt started working at YNCU in June of 2018 as a Junior Multimedia Designer on the marketing team. A recent graduate, she was hired on contract, but has since moved into a permanent full-time position.

During the pandemic and lengthy lockdowns Melody discovered her passion for piano and composing. This past Valentine’s Day she released her first album, titled IN COLOUR. If you’d like to give it a listen, her music is available on Youtube, Spotify, Amazon Music and most music streaming platforms. You can also visit her website for more details about her musical journey.

Melody’s amazing story stands as an inspiration as the shutdown continues—to achieve work life balance and make time for the things that bring joy and happiness.
