Additional Accused Persons Arrested – Charges Laid

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – After further investigation of a stabbing incident in Elliot Lake on March 11, 2021, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has made additional arrests and additional charges have been laid.

A 16 year-old was arrested at the time and was charged in connection with the incident.

On April 21, 2021, the OPP’s East Algoma, Sault Ste. Marie, and Superior East Crime Units arrested a 22 year-old and a 17 year-old.   They were each charged with Conspiracy to Commit Murder, contrary to section 465(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC), Accessory After the Fact, contrary to section 463(a) of the CC, and Obstruct Police, contrary to section 129(a) of the CC.

Both people appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Sault Ste. Marie and were remanded into custody.

Further, on April 23, 2021, the East Algoma OPP Crime Unit arrested the 16 year-old, originally charged in the case. This individual is now charged with Conspiracy to Commit Murder, contrary to section 465(1)(a) of the CC, Attempted Murder, contrary to section 239(1)(b) of the CC, and Aggravated Assault, contrary to section 268 of the CC.

The OPP’s East Algoma Crime Unit is continuing the investigation, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
