UPDATE: Police explain heavy presence in Jamestown (Photo Gallery)


Update @ 6:39 a.m.

On May 31, 2021, after responding to reports of a firearm at a residence in the 600 block of Albert Street West, officers quickly contained the area.

Around 11:00 p.m. officers were able to safely evacuate the residence and no firearm was located.

The investigation is complete and officers are no longer on scene.

Earlier Story – May 31 @ 9:48 a.m.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. we were made aware of a heavy police presence in Jamestown by readers.

Upon arrival, Police could be seen surrounding a home in the 600 block of Albert Street West. They currently have the road blocked at Albert and James Street.

Approximately 8-9 cruisers could be seen with multiple officers having their service rifles pointed in the direction of the home.

Crowds gathered further down Albert Street to watch the action.

Police could be heard calling for an individual to come out of the home, however at this time the Ballistics vehicle was not on scene.

SaultOnline has reached out to Sault Police and the following statement was just released:

“There is currently a police presence in the 600 block of Albert Street West as officers responded to reports of a firearm in the area. Officers have the area contained as the investigation is ongoing,” says the press release. “We advise the public to avoid the area at this time.”

  1. It’s going to be a rough and brutal summer with a whole lot of drugs, overdoses and violence. It won’t get any better until they cease the local catch and release program that is putting these thugs with multiple priors right back on the street to continue to terrorize.
