The line-ups which can be seen daily outside of Tenaris’s Sault Ste. Marie facility are not as alarming as some in the community may think.

SaultOnline had readers reaching out to us in regards to what was going on and if, in fact, positive COVID-19 cases had gone up in the facility.

Carolina Mendoza, a communications representative for Tenaris sent this e-mailed statement.

“The line was due to Tenaris’ increased, preventative rapid testing of employees. For interested employees, we are now offering, daily, voluntary rapid testing for Covid-19, up from twice a week,” said Mendoza. “We have nurses on-site to administer these tests.  We can confirm there are eight positive cases.  The increased on-site rapid testing is among enhancements we are implementing at the facility to curb the spread and keep employees safe.”

  1. Keep in mind these are rapid tests. Eg you can actually get false positives from these. (The negatives are accurate though so if you get a positive, you’d want to get a PCR test to confirm)

  2. Another breeding ground that should have had measures in place much earlier, now it’s too late for many from there that are yet to be diagnosed with Covid.

  3. That’s what happens when you bring in workers from other parts of the country, and covid patients from down south into our hospital!!!!!
