‘Get Ready to Go & Make a Difference’
The Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) is hosting its first annual job fair and conference. The Job Fair is intended for medical students, resident doctors and for their spouses or partners. Clinicians who are new to practice are also welcome to attend. Offered entirely online, the job fair runs May 26 and May 27, 2021 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. both evenings.
For spouses and partners, there are three sessions focused on thriving as a family unit. For medical learners, there will be an opportunity to learn more about medical electives, incentives for practice, entering into practice, family life, and work in the region.
“Northern Ontario needs excellent clinicians—clinicians who are advocates, leaders, adventurers and changemakers. We look forward to welcoming all interested learners, from NOSM and from other schools and programs. Additionally, we want partners and spouses to know that their happiness in Northern Ontario matters, and they have an important role in the success of medical communities,” says Dr. Sarah Newbery, Assistant Dean of Physician Workforce Strategy.
In partnership with Ontario Health (HealthForceOntario) there will be opportunities to attend breakout rooms with community representatives who will share what it is like to learn, work and live in those communities. Sessions on financial management and debt management will be led by MD Financial Management and Scotiabank, and safe high-quality care led by the Canadian Medical Protective Association.
Register by Thursday, May 27 at the Job Fair webpage. For information about the event, please contact Pamela Haight at 705-662-7157 or email [email protected].
