Pontoon Boat Stolen from Desbarats Dealership


(JOHNSON TOWNSHIP ON) – On May 17, 2021, members from the East Algoma Detachment from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a theft of a pontoon boat from a local boat dealership property on Highway 17 in the Town of Desbarats.

Investigation determined, the theft occurred sometime between October 13, 2020 and May 17, 2021. The owner had stored a 2007 Apex Qwest 17′ 2″ pontoon boat bearing serial number APX11512F607 with Hull Identification Number (HIN) ON4110170.  Attached to the pontoon was a 2006 black Mercury 40 horsepower 4 stroke outboard motor bearing serial number 1B270418. The pontoon boat was sitting on a 2007 Genesis trailer bearing serial number 5KYMB2011561001300. Estimated value of the property stolen is over $15000 (see attached photos).

  1. 8 months to notice it missing? That is extremely poor business management! Their insurance will have to cough up a cheque to the poor family that was looking forward to enjoying their boat.
