Two children, ages four and 11, critically wounded in Vaughan, Ont., crash

VAUGHAN, Ont. — Police say two children were critically injured after they were hit by a vehicle that veered off the road and into their driveway north of Toronto on Sunday afternoon.

York Regional Police say a Mercedes Benz struck three people who were in a driveway in Vaughan, Ont., including an 11-year-old girl and her four-year-old brother.

Const. Laura Nicolle says the children’s neighbour was also struck, and the man has minor injuries.

She says the 17-year-old boy behind the wheel was arrested.

Nicolle says police are currently considering a dangerous driving charge.

She says the crash happened in an area where the speed limit was 40 kilometres an hour, so officers will be looking at whether speed was a factor in the collision.
