Heavy Rain Fall Expected To Last Into Thursday


Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the district of Algoma.  The statement was issued early this morning warning of heavy rain fall that will impact the area with as much as 50mm of rain by Thursday afternoon.

A slow moving low pressure system will move into the Algoma area Wednesday evening with rain expected overnight. A heavy rain fall warning is expected to be issued later today.

Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Sault Ste. Marie – St. Joseph Island
  • Searchmont – Montreal River Harbour – Batchawana Bay

Heavy rainfall overnight through Thursday.

Rain will begin over parts of Northeastern Ontario overnight before spreading to the Ontario-Quebec border on Thursday morning. General rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 mm are likely.

Rainfall amounts exceeding 50 mm may be possible in some locations. Rainfall warnings may be required at a later time.
