Man Charged with Impaired Driving
On July 24, 2021 officers with Patrol Services charged 41-year-old David Larue of Echo Bay, Ontario with impaired driving – alcohol and drugs.
Around 6:30 p.m. officers responded to a call of a man asleep behind the wheel of a sedan in a parking lot in the 200 block of Second Line West. Upon arrival officers located the vehicle and observed a man asleep in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. Officers woke the man and identified him as the accused.
Officers read the accused an Approved Screening Device Demand and the accused provided two samples into an approved device. Both samples registered a fail result and he was arrested.
He is charged with impaired driving – alcohol and drugs and impaired driving – blood alcohol concentration (80+). He was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on September 13, 2021.
Man Charged with Failure or Refusal to Comply with a Demand
On July 25, 2021 officers with Patrol Services charged 33-year-old Michael Peplow with refusing to comply with a demand.
Around 9:00 a.m. officers responded to a call of a motor vehicle collision in the area of Wallace Terrace and Second Avenue. Upon arrival, officers observed a grey pickup truck with extensive damage. During the investigation, officers determined the vehicle struck three utility poles before coming to a stop.
Upon speaking with the driver, officers identified him as the accused and developed grounds to believe his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired. The accused provided a breath sample into an approved device and registered a pass result. Officers developed grounds to believe his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by drug. Officers read the accused the Drug Recognition Evaluation Bodily Substance Demand and he refused to provide a blood sample.
He was arrested. He is charged with failure or refusal to comply with a demand. He was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on September 13, 2021.
