UPDATE FROM SAULT POLICE SERVICES –
ORIGINAL REPORT –
At approximately 8:50 a.m. this morning, Sault Fire Services was called to the centre of the city for a fire.
Upon arrival at the Shoppers Drug Mart at 44 Great Northern Road smoke could be seen coming from the roof area of the business.
SaultOnline spoke with Associate-Owner Mitch Zorzit outside the store.
“We had a vaccination clinic planned for today, if you were supposed to attend please call the store ahead of time,” said Zorzit. “I don’t know how long we will be down, I’m hoping there is no interior smoke damage and it may only be half a day, but right now we aren’t sure.”
Plenty of bystanders and employees could be seen watching fire operations which included the deployment of Pumper 4’s aerial, a rare occurrence for Sault Fire Services.
Stay with SaultOnline as we update you on this fluid situation. Fire crews remain on scene at this hour.
HVAC unit would be my first guess… Probably a burnt out bearing or something that caused it.
Shopper’s drug mart in the Cambrian mall is on Great Northern road not trunk road
