Power Outage

The PUC is advising of an unplanned power outage affecting customers in the area of Queen Street East from Varsity Avenue to Lake Street and side streets (Elizabeth, Parkdale, Caddy, Drake, Oak Park Cres) as well as Algoma University.

Crews are investigating the cause of the unplanned power outage which was initially reported at 7:50 a.m. affecting 770 customers.

PUC would like to remind customers:

  • Downed wires should always be considered energized or “live”, and extremely dangerous
  • Do not approach or drive over a downed power line and do not touch anything the power line may be in contact with
  • Parents are encouraged to talk to their children about powerline safety and the dangers that can be associated with power lines
  • Take all the necessary safety precautions during a power outage

If you have any information leading to the cause of the outage or other concerns please call the PUC emergency number at 759-6555.

  1. Unplanned power outage, yes.
    In progress?, no.
It may have been in progress at the second the power was being cut, but after that it’s hardly in progress any more!
