A cold front sweeping through the district could produce severe weather for parts of Algoma.
Environment Canada has issued warnings and watches for areas including Sault Ste. Marie and St. Joseph Island. Warnings have been issued for Searchmont – Ranger Lake and Elliot Lake.

This severe thunderstorm is located 8 kilometres northeast of Echo Lake, moving east at 60 km/h.
Hazard: 90 km/h wind gusts and quarter size hail.
Locations impacted include:
Poplar Dale, Tunnel Lake, Chub Lake, Jobammageeshig Lake and Wakomata Lake.
Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
Severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon as a cold front races eastward across Northeastern Ontario. The threat will remain in the area until this evening.
Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Water-related activities may be unsafe due to violent and sudden gusts of wind over bodies of water. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
