Around 3:10 p.m. Sault Fire Services received a call for service in the city’s west end.
When they arrived in the 300 block of Wellington Street West, they encountered heavy smoke coming from the upstairs of the back of a building.
Firefighters helped two individuals and a dog out of the building before determining the fire was contained.

One of the rescued individuals was seen being obstinate and aggressive towards firefighters and others on scene at which point Sault Police Services were called.
Fire Services remained on scene for multiple hours, conducting an investigation into the cause of the blaze and ventilating the building.
Sault Police Services were seen detaining the individual who was aggressive towards first responders. Why he was detained and if he was charged are unknown at the time.
