At approximately 10:30 a.m. this morning, Sault Fire Services responded to reports of a vehicle fire in the north end of the city.
Two available pumpers responded to an area approximately 300 meters north of Second Line on Old Garden River Road.
Upon arrival they found a grey pick-up truck fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighters worked diligently to extinguish the flames and had the fire under control in minutes. The roadway was closed in both directions while they attended.
Part-way through the incident, Fire Services
were required to attend yet another call in the downtown core, leaving only 1 pumper to work on this incident.
The incident which the other pumper left to attend ended up being in relation to this morning’s fire and as it turned out, they weren’t required.
Sault Fire Services remain on scene at this hour waiting for a tow-truck, and correspondingly traffic is slowed in the affected section of Garden River Road.
