A federal government official has revealed that people who get fired for being unvaccinated might not be able to get Employment Insurance.
Employment Minister Carla Qualtrough explained that unvaccinated people who lose their jobs likely won’t be eligible to get EI if their employer requires vaccination against COVID-19.
“It’s a condition of employment that hasn’t been met,” she said. “And the employer choosing to terminate someone for that reason would make that person ineligible for EI.” Qualtrough said in an interview on CBC’s Power and Politics.
However, it doesn’t apply if someone has a medical exemption or a “valid reason” for not getting vaccinated.
Some employers in Canada have already put mandatory vaccination policies in place for workers including Retirement homes, the Federal government, Hospitals, Police forces and public transit employees are all required to be fully vaccinated to work.
Many private companies are also making vaccinations mandatory.

GOOD! EI is for people who lose their jobs due to no fault of their own.
If you lose your job because you’re scared of needles and educated by facebook you did it to yourself.
just think of all the spare time you will have to learn science from memes on the internet!
This sets a very very dangerous precedent which should seriously concern us all. Overreaching with implications far beyond covid.
How dare you suggest that this is overreach. The lives of literally trillions of grandmas are at risk here.
in My Opinion, Good, these people are less than human. Can we distribute some yellow stars for them too? Some of them don’t want the Gestapp on their phone, it’s problematic.
Settle down honey
Concentrate these people in camps and educate them. Herr Trudeau knows what is best
Sure is, comrade.
