On Monday, November 15th, 2021, Sault Ste. Marie Fire Service crews responded to a call of a fire in a vulnerable occupancy in the city’s east-end.
Shortly after 5 a.m, crews responded to the 300 block of Trunk Road to the reported fire on the second floor of the vulnerable occupancy. Upon arrival, the fire had been extinguished by staff members. Crews assisted in ventilating the building.
Further investigation revealed that staff delivered a thorough execution of fire safety procedures during the incident. “Fire safety procedures are put in place and regularly practiced to ensure everything works seamlessly during a fire incident,” said Deputy Chief Paul Milosevich, “Staff demonstrated a strong commitment to fire and life safety during the incident.”
There is some damage to the unit in the building. One individual was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
