A photo SaultOnline captured last year which was never publicly shared by our organization, has ended up in our local Sault Fire Services being internationally recognized.
The fire in question occurred on Albert Street West, late January 2021. With the help of the public dispatch system Sault Fire Services uses, SaultOnline was to the blaze and attended.

Upon arrival, nearly 250 photos of firefighters working to save the structure and stop the fire from spreading were taken. When one was shared by our reporter on his personal twitter page, it caught international attention.
The series he shared was sent to Command Light, a division of a fire truck manufacturing conglomerate called Super Vacuum Manufacturing, out of Fort Collins, Colorado. They were impressed with the deployment of their lighting system and asked for further copies of the moments around that photo. They had an idea.
Amy Speer, a marketing director for the company, indicated that they were in the middle of a redesign and asked permission to use the photo. At the time of the request, she explained that it captured the use of their equipment well.
The photo has earned a prominent position in their boardroom after the redesign, showcasing Sault Fire’s deployment of the Command Light System for anyone using the room.

“Super Vacuum Manufacturing is proud to work with departments across the nation to equip their firefighters with the tools they need to protect their communities. Located in Fort Collins, Colo., we have six divisions devoted to the fire industry,” said Speer in an e-mail. “One of which equipped the Sault Ste. Marie department with a Command Light tower (shown), which has been vital for providing scene lighting during nighttime incidents.”
She explained that the company also manufactures heavy-duty fire trucks through their SVI Trucks division, provides ventilation equipment through their “Super Vac” brand and offers refurbishment and emergency vehicle graphics through two other divisions.
They appreciate the Sault Fire Service as a customer and also look forward to the photo being part of their boardroom for years to come.
