G4G says Come As You Are to their fundraising Gala!

Typically, using the word “gala” would invoke images of a black tie affair complete with gowns and suits. However, the upcoming fundraiser planned by and in support of Grocer 4 Good invites everyone to, literally, Come As You Are.

“It is planned around being inclusive.” said Kimberly Seabrook, coordinator for the soirée.

Planned as a fundraiser to support the operations at Grocer 4 Good Ability Development program, it is one more way that the community can give back to this social enterprise that has the overall aim of creating relevant employment opportunities for those with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, other intellectual disability or those chronically underemployed.  Operating as a grocery store, G4G is located on Gore street, providing shopping opportunities in an area that up until this point, hadn’t any such offerings. They are open to all and provide an array of fresh produce, canned goods, as well as dried goods.

The festivities planned for the gala are vast – a selection of local musicians, delicious food catered by Angela Caputo of the Breakfast Pig, as well as a silent auction table. Among the items available on the auction table, Kim was excited at one of the more innovative offerings as she and her daughter, Hannah (a team member at G4G), discussed the event in a live interview.

Full details for the event are available here.

“In addition to sponsoring the Come As You Are Gala, The JDB Group will also be providing a wonderful auction item of $2,000 to help cover benefits, training, or any other employment related costs that an employer may incur to hire these individuals.” Seabrook said. “The JDB group of companies is The Jone Deslaurier Blevins Group.”

Certainly a worthy event, and modestly priced at $40.00 per ticket.  Tickets are currently on sale through the Eventbrite website and can be purchased by clicking here.
