UPDATED- Large Gas Leak currently on baseline road (Video/photos)

UPDATE- At 11:15 p.m. the roadway was opened and the incident was considered handled.

Shortly after 10 p.m. Sault Fire Services was dispatched in response to reports of a gas leak and fire in the west end.

Upon arrival at the Enbridge/Union Gas site in the 800 block of Baseline Road the encountered a significant gas leak coming from a high volume line on the property.

Firefighters quickly established a perimeter around the facility and currently remain on scene while Enbridge Technicians work to stop the leak. As of 11 p.m. it appears as though Enbridge Gas has stopped the leak as the sound is no longer audible.

Sault Police Service have Baseline closed just east of Arauco as well as on the other side at a safe distance.

  1. Enbridge’s next major disaster will be line 5 under the Mackinac straits. There are two already damaged and bent poorly supported pipelines with dings and coating missing that are carrying 22 million gallons of oil and natural gas liquids per day. These pipelines are 19 years past their life expectancy and will most definitely fail it’s just a matter of when.
    When it does happen there will be unprecedented permanent damage spread far and wide but heavily greased palms keep it running despite shutdown orders.

    • There are far too many corrupt people in this world that care not about ecological disasters or anything else for that matter.
