Traffic Services Activity


On June 21, 2022, officers with Traffic Services, along with members of the Ontario Provincial Police conducted targeted window tint enforcement in various areas of Sault Ste. Marie.

To comply with the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) windows immediately to the right and left of the driver must have a Visible Light Transmission level of at least 70%.

During the targeted enforcement, officers issued 20 drivers with tickets in violation of HTA regulations. Drivers issued tickets by Sault Ste. Marie Police Service officers have 72 hours to reduce the window tint and provide proof to Sault Police, the ticket will be rescinded. For drivers who do not provide proof will face a $110 fine.
