Heavy black smoke could be seen across the city from a fire at Tenaris.
Shortly before 10 a.m. this morning, Sault Fire Services received multiple calls for the industrial fire at the location.
Upon arrival a cooling tower on the outside of the building was seen in flames. Smoke filled one of the building on the inside and evacuation did take place. There appeared to be no injuries.
Firefighters worked quickly to bring the blaze under control and will be on scene for some time.
Tenaris released this statement to SaultOnline earlier this afternoon-
“the fire broke out in the cooling tower for the welding line being built at Tenaris. There were no injuries. The fire department quickly brought the fire under control and extinguished the flames. An investigation into the cause is underway. No impact to production.”
