The Soo Thunderbirds have been busy the last couple of weeks getting players out of BC to join the Bird nest.
First, on Wednesday, July 27, the Soo Thunderbirds acquired forward and Trail, British, Columbia native Mitchell Daines from the Castlegar Rebels in exchange for a player development fee.
And now, on Thursday, August 4, the Soo Thunderbirds ended up getting another player out of BC who will be also joining the Bird nest for 2022-2023.
The Soo Thunderbirds have announced on Thursday, August 4 that they have acquired forward and Qualicum Beach, British Columbia native Ethan Raduy from the MJHL’s Winnipeg Freeze in exchange for a player development fee.
“We are really excited that Ethan has decided to join our program for his final season of junior eligibility,” said Soo Thunderbirds assistant coach and general manager Jamie Henderson. “Ethan is really driven to have a great season and we welcome him and his family to the Soo Thunderbirds.”
Raduy, who is a 2002-birth-year forward, began playing the 2021-2022 season with the MJHL’s Portage Terriers, where he had 2 assists in just 3 games played.
The 5’11 and 190 pound forward then concluded the 2021-2022 season with the MJHL’s Winnipeg Freeze, where he then scored 3 goals and set up 10 others in 17 games played.
“I’m excited to be part of the Soo family and their organization,” Raduy said. “This upcoming season, I’m also going to try to help the Thunderbirds bring home another championship.”
With the addition of Raduy, the Thunderbirds now have a total of three players from British Columbia on their 2022-2023 roster.
The other two players from British Columbia on the current Soo Thunderbirds roster, are newcomer Mitchell Daines and returnee Dharan Cap.
