At the World Junior hockey championship, Team Canada battled back to overcome Czechia 3-2 in overtime and take home the gold medal. Canada led 2-0 going into the third, but Czechia knotted it and the game went into overtime. At 6:22 into the extra period, Dylan Guenther scored his second goal of the contest to give Canada the winning margin and the title. The other goal was scored by Shane Wright for Canada.

The tournament MVP was Connor Bedard, who was assisted by Thomas Milic’s 24 saves. Canada, which won five consecutive gold medals between 2005 and 2009, is the first team to triumph in back-to-back competitions.

  1. Canadian hockey players are the most skilled and we produce the best players in the world. So when Canada does not get gold it is very disappointing and being first last is no good. It is also proven that the NHL team with most Canadian players is the team that usually wins the cup. The only thing or when I feel proud about being Canadian is when our hockey teams win gold men and women’s. Proud of all of our Canadian hockey players right from tyke up to NHL!
