January 2022 Homicide results in Three Charged with First Degree Murder

On January 29, 2022, officers responded to a call for service at a residence in the 400 block of Second Line West. Upon entering the residence, officers located the 53-year-old victim, deceased. At the request of the next of kin, the name of the victim is not being released.

On January 28, 2022, the victim attended the residence on Second Line West and was with the three accused. While at the residence illicit substances were being consumed. An altercation took place and the victim sustained multiple lacerations as well as injuries to their head. The victim was bound and left in the residence. Police were called to the residence around 2:20 a.m. and located the victim deceased.

Through the investigation officers identified 38-year-old Glen Pelchat, 44-year-old William Ross and 28-year-old Brandon Wyatt as being involved in the incident.

On January 9, 2023, officers attended the Thunder Bay Jail where Wyatt was being held in custody on unrelated charges. The accused was arrested and charged with,

• First Degree Murder
• Trafficking in a Controlled Substance

They attended a video bail hearing on January 10, 2023, and subsequently remanded into custody.

On January 11, 2023, officers with the Crime Suppression Unit and Drug Enforcement Unit located Pelchat as a passenger in a vehicle in the area of Korah Road and Raymond Street. A traffic stop was conducted, and the accused was arrested and charged with,

• First Degree Murder
• Trafficking in a Controlled Substance

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

On January 11, 2023, officers attended the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre where Ross is in custody on unrelated charges. The accused was arrested and charged with,

• First Degree Murder
• Trafficking in a Controlled Substance

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

  1. I’ve known William (Bill) Ross my whole life and he’s been in and out of jail his whole life. And he once served a 10 year sentence for attempted murder. He will never learn. Just lock him up for good and throw away the key.

  2. I am surprised that it took Willam Ross that long to upgrade from attempt of murder to murder. I am sure that this is probably not his first murder, just first one to be caught. First attempt back in the 90s was over less then an ounce of weed when they took a hatchet to a guy. Unfortunately someone had to die to put this dirt bag in jail.
