Lake Effect Snow Could Dump Another 15cm By Tuesday

0

We could see another 15cm tonight from lake effect snow showers, though we might only see 5cm. That’s the thing with lake effect snow – it has a potential to produce a lot of snow in a short period of time or very little. Nonetheless, Environment Canada has issued a weather advisory for the area.

Weather advisory in effect for:

Sault Ste. Marie – St. Joseph Island
Winter weather travel advisory in effect.

Hazard:
Reduced visibilities in heavy snow.
Local snowfall accumulations of 5 to 15 cm.

Timing:
This afternoon and evening.

Discussion;
Lake effect snow is expected to intermittently affect the area today and may last into the overnight hours. Lake effect snow is expected to shift north of the region by Tuesday morning.

Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
