Proper Collision Reporting Practices

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and partners at the Collision Reporting Centre (CRC) urge community members to bring all necessary documentation when attending the CRC to report a collision.

Recently, CRC staff has seen an increase in the number of people reporting a collision without valid insurance. Having valid insurance is a requirement for CRC staff to process your report efficiently and accurately.

It is a requirement under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act that all vehicles on provincial roadways have valid and updated insurance when they are being operated. The minimum fine for the owner of a vehicle without valid insurance is $5,000.
