On January 23, 2023, at approximately 9:21 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 6 in Curtin Township.
The complainant flagged down police and directed them to a vehicle that was off of the road and on its side on the ice of a frozen pond. It was determined the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages. They were subsequently arrested and returned to detachment for further tests.
Wyatt KENNEDY, 27-years-old, from Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands was charged with:
· Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
· Operation While Impaired- Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on March 13, 2023.
