Weather Advisory: Heavy Snow Expected Thursday

0

Just in case you need reminding, it is winter, so news of a pending snow storm shouldn’t come as a surprise. A hard pill to swallow considering it has felt more like March than January this year.  Things are about to change as far as snow fall. Some areas could see as much as 20cm but the overall call is 10cm for the Sault thanks to a slow moving system approaching from the south.

Weather advisory in effect for:

Sault Ste. Marie – St. Joseph Island
Searchmont – Montreal River Harbour – Batchawana Bay
Winter weather travel advisory in effect beginning Thursday afternoon.

Hazards:
Total snowfall accumulations of 10 to 15 cm.
Reduced visibility in heavy snow.

Timing:
Thursday afternoon into early Friday morning.

Discussion:
A Colorado low is expected to bring snow beginning Thursday afternoon. The snow is expected to fall heavy at times through Thursday evening before tapering to periods of lighter snow early Friday morning.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
