New North Greenhouses’ Flowers Help Local Families

Housing affordability has been a growing concern for local families over the past few years, but one local business is trying to help. This spring, New North Greenhouses is excited to bring you a new promotion that will beautify your home as well as raise money for much-needed local housing.

New North Greenhouses is hosting a fundraiser known as “Baskets and Planters for Habitat Homes” to benefit Habitat for Humanity Sault Ste. Marie’s Affordable Homeownership Program. Funds will be used to help local families escape the cycle of poverty and find their forever homes on Goulais Avenue.

Habitat’s mission is to bring our community together to help local families build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership. The charity is currently finishing up a universally accessible Habitat Home on Blake Avenue for Ahmad, Manal, and their three young sons – a family who came to Canada in 2016 after fleeing the war in Syria. Next, Habitat will begin its biggest project yet – a five-unit complex on Goulais Avenue which will serve five diverse families of varying sizes. The organization is accepting Expressions of Interest from prospective homeowners until March 30th at 5:00 p.m. at www.habitatsault.ca.

New North Greenhouses has planted one hundred 13” coloured hanging baskets with a beautiful assortment of annual flowers and fifty coordinating 13” coloured planters. Baskets and Planters for Habitat Homes are available to pre-purchase on its website, www.newnorthgreenhouses.ca,  or by phone order at 705-779-2168. The cost per basket is $45 plus HST. Planters are $65 plus HST. There is a limited supply of each, so purchase your baskets and planters today!

There are two different colourful mixes to choose from: Hawaiian Kalani and Hawaiian Colour Clash mixes. $10 from the purchase of each of these gorgeous baskets and planters will be donated directly to Habitat for Humanity Sault Ste. Marie & Area, making a difference in our community.

Hanging baskets and planters will be available for pick up at New North Greenhouses around the third week of May, weather permitting. Each customer will be notified by phone when the pickup date has been set.

New North Greenhouses and Habitat for Humanity look forward to seeing you this spring and would encourage you to keep in contact through their social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
