Sault Ste. Marie Remembrance Day Ceremony
Approximately 60 soldiers from 49th (Sault Ste Marie) Field Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery (49th (SSM) Fd Regt, RCA) will participate in a Remembrance Day Ceremony on November 11th, 2019.
Branch 25 of Royal Canadian Legion; along with all veteran associations, Local Military units, Fire and Police Services, local Cadet Corps, service clubs will join Veterans and Family or Friends of Veterans.
Parade March will commence from the GFL Memorial Gardens at approximately 9:50am to the Court House Cenotaph for a special “In Remembrance” wreath laying ceremony with a fly past by the Sault College Aviation course and a gun salute by the 49th Field Regiment Royal Canadian Artillery. This will involve the use of both military vehicles and weapons. There will be 3 loud controlled firing of 105mm blank ammunition as part of the ceremony.
Then Parade Back to GFL Memorial Gardens for the Ceremonies at approximately 10:30am
The community is welcome to join us at 10:45am for a Remembrance Day service at the GFL Memorial Gardens with a moment of silence at 11am sharp. Remembrance Day activities will continue after the service until approximately 1pm.

Remembrance Day ceremonies focus on the remembrance of service members whom paid the ultimate sacrifice serving their country. Residents should be advised that in addition to soldiers in uniform on parade without weapons, they will see a gun detachment operating a 105mm Howitzer to conduct the gun salute and a small group of soldiers will be carrying service rifles with no ammunition will be posted at a cenotaph guard in uniform.
