Meaning of Home Writing Contest

National Writing Contest
For Grades 4, 5 And 6

January 4 to February 19, 2021

Grades 4, 5, and 6 students in Sault Ste. Marie & Area are invited to submit a poem or essay explaining what home means to them. It’s a great way for students to engage in an interactive and fun way, and it teaches youth the importance of safe, affordable housing.

Each entry results in a $10 donation to Habitat for Humanity Sault Ste. Marie & Area and the winner in each grade gets to direct a $30,000 grant to a Habitat Sault build.

Nine runners-up (3 per grade) will also get to direct a $10,000 grant towards a local Habitat build.

Additional prizes include an iPad, and class pizza party for each of the grand prize winners.

Teachers can sign-up for a teacher account so you can easily upload multiple essays, track your students’ impact and receive regular contest updates.

Parents are also encouraged to have their children participate!

The event is finished.
