SSMDLC – Day of Mourning Virtual Event ~ April 28th
Every year on April 28 we pay our respects to, and remember, the thousands of workers who have been killed, injured or suffered illness as a result of work-related incidents.
We also honour the many families and friends who have been deeply affected by these tragedies.

Every worker has the right to return home safe and sound at the end of each work day. The pandemic has exposed systemic and critical failures in how we protect our workforce from harm. COVID-19 remains a threat, but even after this pandemic comes to a close, our current laws remain inadequate – but we can fight to change them. Workers must have the power to stay home when they are sick, be protected from mass layoffs, and have the ability to build a future where people are prioritized over corporate greed.
By working together with employers, workers and our health and safety partners
We can prevent worker injuries and deaths before they occur.
