The Annual DEER CHECK Stations are happening this year!
There are two stations this year being operated by the Sault College Fish and Wildlife students.
Echo Bay – November 4th, 5th, 6th
St Joseph Island – November 11th, 12th, 13th
Successful hunters may bring their deer in to be weighed and aged, or just the jaw.
The students collect the biological information for the local Biologist that uses it to follow annual trends.
NEW this year – hunters that bring in a deer to the station will be entered into draw prizes. 🙂
The station will have mandatory mask protocols.
The tally board will be updated continuously so visitors can see the biggest deer weight and number of antler points. This is one of the very last stations in the Province and a local tradition.
